CONTEXTUALIZATION
In 2021 The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education announced the integration of several of their universities. Integration changed my traditional role as a NACE Career Coach by creating a new specialization area of Digital Career Education. This new position required me to identify and create ways of shifting the delivery of career education from a one on one approach to a one (coach) to many (students) approach. This model is similar to that of a traditional classroom teacher model, however students are not required to engage with their career coach.
I met this challenge by exploring tools and resources that are not typically associated with university career center delivery of services. Because our University uses Brightspace D2L, I decided to explore how to more efficiently utilize the LMS for asynchronous learning while also keeping students engaged since the program would be optional for students.
Additionally, past career programming had utilized digital badges, but since the integration, it was important to learn more about digital badging platforms and how digital badges were specifically being used to engage and motivate learners.
The following artifacts outline my two learning goals and demonstrate my progress.
